COmprehensive Autism Assessment
Am I Autistic?
Have you ever felt like something has been missing, or that the pieces don’t quite fit? Perhaps you’ve tried therapy before, only to feel misunderstood, dismissed, or misdiagnosed. If you identify as autistic and are seeking professional insight, or if you’re curious about whether autism may be part of who you are, we’re here to help you explore and understand your experience. Our autism assessments are designed to provide clarity and validation in a supportive, affirming environment. You don’t need to go through this journey alone—our clinicians are here to guide you toward the answers you’ve been seeking.
Living without a clear understanding of your neurodivergent traits can create obstacles in many areas of life, especially in relationships. You might feel like you need to hide parts of yourself to be accepted, leading to misunderstandings with friends, family, and partners. At times, this may even result in isolation, as constant masking can be emotionally draining. Our comprehensive autism evaluations go beyond surface-level symptoms and take a holistic view of your unique experiences, providing you with insights into how autism might be affecting your relationships, emotions, and daily life.
Perhaps you’re exhausted from constantly needing to explain yourself, or you feel like you’re always on the outside looking in. Social interactions may feel overwhelming, and physical symptoms like chronic pain or digestive issues may add an additional layer of stress. With our neuro-affirming approach, you’ll have the opportunity to learn more about yourself and develop strategies that work for you. At Neuron & Rose Psychological Services, we’re dedicated to helping you find empowerment, acceptance, and understanding through comprehensive, affirming autism evaluations.
If you are neurodivergent and looking for assessment, the clinicians at Neuron and Rose are here to help.
Autism Is Much More Common Than You Might Think
Though there is growing awareness surrounding autism, it is still significantly misunderstood and misrepresented. Over the years, there has been an increase in diagnosis, moving from 1 in 110 to 1 in 36 (1). Recent research has highlighted the prevalence of autism in girls and women. It used to be thought that for every four boys, there was one girl affected. Now, studies are suggesting it may actually be more common in girls, with 80 percent of women remaining undiagnosed at age 18 (2).
Autism Is Not Easily Understood By The Rest Of The World
In our culture, societal pressures and a desire to fit in often prompt you to mask your true self, camouflaging autistic traits and ways of being, to be like everyone else. Consequently, many undiagnosed autists or those who suspect they may be autistic are left grappling with confusion and uncertainty about how to navigate life. This can result in continued depression, anxiety, and burnout.
Seeking a comprehensive autism evaluation is a vital step in obtaining a definitive diagnosis and gaining valuable insights into learning self-acceptance, improving your well-being, and finding a supportive community.
Autism Evaluation Process
At Neuron & Rose Psychological Services, our comprehensive assessment/testing process provides a deeper understanding of yourself and how your brain works. We help highlight what autism actually is and identify what your needs are. These evaluations are ideal for people who need answers and may need in-depth support, services, and/or school and workplace accommodations.
Our Comprehensive Evaluation Pricing Model
We want to ensure that as many people who need affirming care are able to access it. We have created a Pay What You Can model that supports our community while also taking into account the skills of our providers. In order to support these Pay What You Can spots, we have to maintain a certain amount of Full Pay spots, therefore, there may be a wait! We also have abbreviated evaluations at a lower cost.
looking for confirmation of what you already know or a brief option?
Check out our abbreviated Autism assessment option (usually with one of our master’s level providers)! These options are shorter in length and have less of a waitlist. They are ideal for someone who is already fairly certain they are actually autistic, who has done a lot of research themselves already, and need minimal documentation, such as a letter or short report, rather than a full comprehensive write up.
Frequently Asked Questions About Autism Testing…
What if I'm high masking?
Don’t sweat it. We won’t dismiss you or say something like, "Oh, you smiled at me so you can't be autistic." We delve deep into your lived experiences of autistic traits and don’t rely on just our observations of you. We understand that many people, especially people raised as girls (AFABs) have been socialized to make more eye contact and to engage in give-and-take conversation. We’re up to date on the research of masking/camouflaging autistic traits.
Is it worth it? Can I just self-diagnose?
Though there are many benefits to a formal assessment, it is not required by any means. Self-diagnosis is valid. You get to decide what is best for you and your needs. We can discuss more about the pros and cons of each method on the consult call and figure out what’s best for you.
I want an assessment, but I can’t afford the cost up front.
That’s okay! Payment plans via CareCredit and Pay-What-You-Can Rates are available for autism testing. Please inquire prior to your consult to discuss these options.
Can you formally diagnose adults with autism without having parents involved?
Yes! We do not require participation from anyone in your life other than you! We offer the option of having family, friends, spouses, etc involved, but only if you are comfortable.
